What is your book about and when was it published?
A World War II Memoir from the perspective of a child as told to me from a now 90-year-old woman from England.
What inspired you to write your book?
I discovered Norma out collecting food from grocery stores to feed hungry veterans. I figured there was a deeper story there. She was a hungry little girl, and American GIs gave her not only food –but hope for a better tomorrow.
What success did you achieve with your book that you’d like to share?
I just presented to a group of 600 Rotarians Presidents from across the Midwest and have two schools this week as well as children are responding quite well to the books. We have also been offered to speak at more than 2 dozen events.
How long did this take to achieve? What steps did you take that helped?
I have been spreading the word through social media, podcasts, and YouTube.
Was there anything about the process that didn’t help?
I got a bit bogged down at first on the scope of a big release plan. I have learned to just have more of a slow growth approach.
If the NFAA and/or our community was instrumental in helping you achieve this success, how?
I am still trying to use some of the many tips I have gleamed from this group. I have an entire folder of things I have learned from this community of people.
What’s next for you?
Working on three more nonfiction books –one of which is a children’s wildlife photo book that I decided to print on my own. I am working on a video series that is a companion of sorts. If I could Fly is now out –but only through my website and a handful of stores for now.
